A 69-year-old Italian tourist who had "recovered" from novel coronavirus died at a private hospital in Jaipur, an official said on Friday. The tourist had a massive cardiac arrest late on Thursday night and he passed away, SMS Medical College principal Sudhir Bhandari said. The sexagenarian was a heart and lungs patient, and recovered from Covid-19 at the SMS Hospital, according to Bhandari. The man preferred shifting to a private hospital, so he was allowed to be shifted to the Fortis hospital on Thursday morning, Bhandari said.

"He was fine in the SMS Hospital and he was fit from our side," the official added.

Meanwhile, a Kolkata resident with a recent travel history to the United Kingdom has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, making it the second confirmed case in West Bengal, PTI reported quoting an official on Friday. Odisha also reported the second confirmed case of novel coronavirus after a man who returned from a country affected by COVID-19 tested positive. Andhra Pradesh reported third case of coronavirus with a person testing positive in Visakhapatnam. Another woman has tested positive for coronavirus in Mohali taking the total number of cases in Punjab to three, an official said on Friday.

The Forest Research Institute in Dehradun has been put under complete lockdown in the wake of three coronavirus positive cases reported from there. The order to put the institute under complete lockdown was issued by Director General Health, Amita Upreti, late on Thursday night.

The official number of novel coronavirus cases in India stood at 195 on Friday morning after 22 fresh cases were reported from various parts of the country, according to the Health Ministry data. However, the recent cases were yet not added to the tally. The cases include 32 foreign nationals- including 17 from Italy, 3 from the Philippines, two from the UK, one each belonging to Canada, Indonesia and Singapore. The figure also includes four deaths reported from Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra so far.

"The total number of active COVID 2019 cases across India stands at 171 so far," the ministry said adding that 20 others have been cured/discharged/migrated while four have died.
