Indians all over the country are staying indoors as part of a self-imposed quarantine to help stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. The 'Janata Curfew' began at 7 am on Sunday morning and will last till 9 pm. The national exercise to counter the COVID-19 threat was suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The 'Janata Curfew' is an attempt to break the chain of coronavirus infections.
Meanwhile, two people, a 63-year-old man from Mumbai and a 38-year-old man in Patna, died due to coronavirus taking the total number of deaths in country to six. According to government data, there have been 341 positive cases in the countryr so far.
All businesses and government establishments, expect those dealing in essential items and services, will remain shut today. There will be no metro trains Delhi, Bengaluru and other cities today. Railways has stopped all trains - long-distance or suburban - will run, for today. Several airlines including IndiGo and GoAir have said they will either operate in minimum capacity or cancel all flights.
The Prime Minister has also asked citizens to stand at their doors, windows and balconies at 5 pm and clap, clang utensils or ring bells in a show of support to those providing essential services while the entire country is on a self-quarantine mode.
Just minutes before the start of the Janata curfew, PM Narendra Modi tweeted: "In a few minutes from now, the #JantaCurfew commences. Let us all be a part of this curfew, which will add tremendous strength to the fight against COVID-19 menace. The steps we take now will help in the times to come. Stay indoors and stay healthy. #IndiaFightsCorona."

Delhi: The ongoing protest near Shiv Mandir at Nizamuddin West, against CAA, NRC and NPR, has been temporarily called off in the wake of #CoronavirusPandemic. The organisers say that they will continue to register their protest from their houses through social media.
West Bengal: Three more people in the state test positive for Coronavirus. The three are the father, mother and the domestic help of a resident of Ballygunge, Kolkata who had returned from London and had tested positive. The number of positive cases in the state rises to 7.
Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel: Besides essential services all other activities will remain suspended in the state. Section 144 of CrPC will be imposed in the state till March 31.

Jharkhand govt announces a lockdown till 31st March. Movement of all public transport prohibited. All shops, commercial institutions, offices, factories, godowns, weekly markets to remain closed. All places of worship to stay closed for devotees during this period.

Maharashtra has extended the 'Janata Curfew' till tomorrow morning. Section 144 will be imposed in Maharashtra from midnight. Also no flight outside of India will be allowed to land in Mumbai.

The government of India has decided extend the lockdown in the 75 districts affected by coronavirus. It has also suspended all inter-state buses till March 31.

Emergency services including fire, ambulance and hospitals will operate and they will respond to calls for help and assistance.
Several state governments have ordered to shut down non-essential shops, malls, shopping spaces, cinemas, gymnasiums, pubs etc to help the 'curfew' as holiday.
