Coronavirus Outbreak Latest Updates: The number of novel coronavirus cases in India crossed 250 on Saturday with many new Covid-19 cases being reported in various parts of the country. Meanwhile, coronavirus entered The White House as a staffer in the team of US Vice President Mike Pence tested positive for the virus. China, where the novel coronavirus originated, reported no domestically transmitted coronavirus cases for the third consecutive day. However, seven more fatalities were confirmed taking the death toll in the country to 3255. Italy, already the worst-affected country in the world, added another 627 fatalities, taking its reported total past 4,000 despite government efforts to stem the pandemic's spread. The global death count from the Covid-19 pandemic has risen over 11,000, with the number of infected people nearing 300,000.

In India, novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 258 on Saturday morning, according to Health Ministry data. Among the 258 are 39 foreign nationals, including 17 from Italy, three from the Philippines, two from the UK, one each belonging to Canada, Indonesia and Singapore. The total figure also includes four deaths reported from Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra.

"The total number of active COVID-19 cases across India stands at 231 so far," the ministry said, adding that 23 others have been cured/discharged/migrated while four have died. (With Agency Inputs)

The government has capped maximum retail price of hand sanitizer at Rs 100 per 200ml bottle till June 30 this year amid sharp rise in the prices of this product amid the coronavirus oubreak. The total number of coronavirus positive patients in Maharashtra has risen to 63 with 11 more positive cases reported in the last 24 hours, officials said. Of the 11 new cases, 10 are in Mumbai and one in Pune, they said on Saturday.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 271 individuals have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positive cases.

Air India will send a 787 Dreamliner aircraft to Rome on Saturday afternoon to evacuate Indians stranded there amid the coronavirus crisis. The Centre issued a statement on Thursday that no international flights would be allowed to land in India from March 22 onward for a period of one week. An Air India official said the flight to Rome would take off from the Delhi airport around 2:30 pm. The flight will evacuate all Indians stranded in Rome and return to Delhi on Sunday morning, the official added. (PTI)

The number of cases in Ladakh rose to 10 and Jammu and Kashmir four. Telangana has reported 17 cases, which include nine foreigners. Rajasthan has also reported 17 cases, including that of two foreigners. Gujarat has reported five cases so far. Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand have reported three cases each. West Bengal, Odisha and Punjab each reported two cases while Puducherry, Chhattisgarh and Chandigarh reported one case each. In Haryana, there are 17 cases, which include 14 foreigners.

The figure also includes four deaths reported from Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra so far. "The total number of active COVID-19 cases across India stands at 196 so far," the ministry said, adding that 23 others have been cured/discharged/migrated while four have died.
