Coronavirus Live Updates: The COVID-19 pandemic has gripped the world economy with recession becoming inevitable reality in coming future. BSE Sensex and other Asian markets recorded staggering lows in trading on Friday. The number of confirmed cases in India has gone up to 75. India has officially recorded the first coronavirus death also. The 76-year-old from Karnataka’s Kalburgi had a history of travelling to Saudi Arabia. He also had known cases of asthma and hypertension. Several state governments have declared coronavirus as epidemic to enforce stringent quarantine measures. Delhi and Haryana have announced closure of schools, colleges and cinema halls. India has also started evacuating its citizens from Iran. New batch of 120 Indians is likely to reach Jaisalmer on Friday. Karnataka government: 30 high-risk contacts of Coronavirus patient who died yesterday have been identified and are under strict observation including the private hospital staff. Four among them are isolated at a designated hospital in Kalaburgi and their samples have been collected.

Tamil Nadu govt announces that pre-kindergarten, LKG, UKG classes in public & private institutions will remain shut up to March 31.

Forty-six persons who were in direct contact with the 76-year old man who died on Tuesday night due to co-morbidity and coronavirus infection have been placed under quarantine, district officials said on Friday. Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner Sharat B said 31 of them have been categorised as "high risk" and the remaining 13 as "low risk".

China's state-run Global Times on Thursday reported that US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield reportedly acknowledged some flu patients may have been misdiagnosed and actually had coronavirus.

Air India has decided to cancel all its flights to Kuwait till April 30 and curtail services to various other countries, including Spain, France and Sri Lanka. The move comes a day after the national carrier announced temporary suspension of its services to Rome, Milan and Seoul.

After Germany, now Britain says that a sizeable population may be infected with COVID-19. British officials have said that up to 10,000 people in the UK could be infected with the novel coronavirus. Government chief scientific adviser Patrick Vallance said there were currently 590 confirmed cases but it was "much more likely we've got somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 people infected".
