Coronavirus Outbreak LIVE Updates: The novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 195 on Friday after 22 fresh cases were reported from various parts of the country, according to the Health Ministry data. The cases include 32 foreign nationals- including 17 from Italy, 3 from the Philippines, two from the UK, one each belonging to Canada, Indonesia and Singapore. The figure also includes four deaths reported from Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra so far.

"The total number of active COVID 2019 cases across India stands at 171 so far," the ministry said adding that 20 others have been cured/discharged/migrated while four have died. The government has banned landing of all international commercial passenger flights from March 22 for a week. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to stay indoors and called for 'janata curfew' on Sunday. Giving the details of the fourth coronavirus fatality in the country, the Union health ministry said the person, who died in Punjab, was an elderly and had co-morbid conditions like diabetes, cardiac ailments.

In China, no new domestic coronavirus cases were confirmed in China for the second consecutive day even as three more fatalities have been reported, taking the death toll in the country to 3,248. China reported 39 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on on Thursday, all of which were imported taking the total of confirmed cases of people coming from abroad to 228. (With Agency Inputs)

A Kolkata resident with a recent travel history to the United Kingdom has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, making it the second confirmed case in West Bengal, PTI reported quoting an official. The man returned from the UK on March 13 and was admitted to the Beliaghata ID Hospital in the city on March 19 with symptoms of COVID-19, the state government official said.

There was no new domestic coronavirus cases were confirmed in China for the second consecutive day even as three more fatalities have been reported, taking the death toll in the country to 3,248, the Chinese health authority said on Friday. No new domestically transmitted cases of the novel coronavirus disease were reported on the Chinese mainland on Thursday, the National Health Commission (NHC) said. However, the NHC said on Friday that it received reports of 39 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland on Thursday, all of which were imported taking the total of confirmed cases of people coming from abroad to 228.

The Indian government banned all international commercial passenger aircraft from landing in the country from March 22 to March 29. Moreover, the Central government has requested states to enforce work for home for private sector employees, except for those working in emergency and essential services.

The total tally of 173 includes 25 foreign nationals -- 17 from Italy, 3 from the Philippines, two from the UK, one each belonging to Canada, Indonesia and Singapore. There are four deaths reported from Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Punjab so far.

In his address to the nation on coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to all Indians to stay indoors and only go out of homes if it was extremely important. He asked people to observe 'Janata curfew' on March 22 from 7 am-9 pm and also express gratitude for those working in hospitals, airports and other places without worrying about themselves.
