A woman visiting her friend in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram has been quarantined by the health department after suspicion of coronavirus. The 27-year-old, who had returned from China, is originally a resident of Mayur Vihar in east Delhi. According to a Times of India report, the Centre has been tracking every single flyer who has returned home after China visit. The lady, who has not been identified so far, had returned from China on January 20. She had gone to meet her friend at the Indirapuram flat on January 28. She ws tracked down by the health department and was quarantined later. The report says that the coronavirus suspect’s blood samples have been sent to ram Manohar Lohia hospital for further tests. The woman has been quarantined at the Indirapuram flat itself, the TOI report said. The woman had complained of severe body ache and flu-like symptoms.

Flights Cancelled

Neighbouring Delhi had earlier reported three such suspects, who were admitted to isolated wards at RML hospital. However, the RML officials say samples of all three suspects have been found negative. Smriti Tiwari, Spokesperson of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, said, “the three suspected coronavirus cases are found to be negative. All 3 patients have been discharged today.” On Wednesday, IndiGo airlines said that due to the novel coronavirus outbreak in China, it has decided to suspend its flights on the Bengaluru-Hong Kong route from February 1 onward and on the Delhi-Chengdu route from February 1 to February 20. Meanwhile, Air India has also suspended its Delhi-Shanghai flight from January 31 to February 14. Air India has advised all its cockpit and cabin crew, who travel to South East Asian cities, to wear N95 masks in the light of coronovirus outbreak.

IndiGo said that for now, it will continue to operate the Kolkata-Guangzhou flight which it is "monitoring on a daily basis".

"Due to China travel restrictions, we have seen a high number of cancellations from China on our Delhi-Chengdu route and vice versa. Therefore, we are suspending our flights between Delhi and Chengdu from February 01, 2020 until February 20, 2020. We are also suspending our Bengaluru- Hong Kong flight effective February 01, 2020," the airline said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the nationwide death count from China's novel coronavirus epidemic has jumped to 170 with 38 more fatalities reported mainly from the worst-affected central Hubei province, the government said on Thursday, while confirming more than 1,700 new infections.The coronavirus outbreak began in Wuhan, capital of China's Hubei province, in December and has now spread across the globe. The Chinese authorities are trying to contain the epidemic while other countries, including India, are working on plans to evacuate their citizens from Wuhan and other cities in Hubei province, the epicentre of the outbreak.
