The Improvised Explosive Device was unearthed by a team of CRPF’s 74th battalion personnel from Chintalnar police station limits while they were out on road security operation, a police official told.

The security personnel had launched the operation from their Burkapala camp toward Mukram Nullah, located around 450 kms away from Sukma.

They spotted the pressure bomb hidden on the roadside at around 12.05 PM, he said.

The explosive, weighing around 5 kg, was immediately destroyed on the spot by the bomb disposal squad, the official said, adding that the IED was possibly meant to harm the security men during their operation in the area.

In the view of Peoples’ Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week being observed by Maoists from December 2 to 8, security has been heightened across the insurgency-hit areas of Chhattisgarh, particularity in Bastar division, as during this period Maoists try to aggravate their activities.
