The death toll in the building collapse at Central Mumbai has mounted to ten as three more bodies were recovered from the debris in the evening, a civic official said.

"Three more bodies were recovered from the debris of the 'Altaf' building," the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said, adding that the bodies recovered from under the debris of the four-storeyed building this evening were of minors.

They are identified as Jeeba Amin (16), Anam Danish Mitani (12) and Mariam Mitani (7), he said.

Six persons injured in the mishap that occurred last night were admitted in Bhabha Hospital at suburban Bandra, KEM and Sion Hospital.

Debris removal operations are still on at the collapse site, located on Cadell Road, the officer said.

A portion of the building located near the famous Mahim dargah had collapsed last night.

Locals have blamed it on structural changes made to a car showroom on the ground floor. As the rescue operations began, another portion of building gave away.
