New Delhi :
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's name has been added in four key Cabinet Committees after being left out of them earlier in the day. The Defence Minister, who was part of just two of the revamped committees, is now part of six of them.
Singh, who was home minister in the preceding government and member of six committees, is now part of Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Investment & Growth and Cabinet Committee on Employment & Skill Development.
Earlier, Singh was part of just two committees - the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).
Interestingly, Home Minister Amit Shah figured in all the Cabinet Committees constituted by the government, a development that highlights his importance in the second Modi dispensation. He is heading two Committees - Cabinet Committee on Accommodation and Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.
Similarly Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's name figured in all but one of them.
The government has reconstituted six committees to reflect the changes in the new dispensation and formed two new Cabinet panels to deal with issues like investment, growth, employment and skill development, amid concerns over economic slowdown.
