Pakistan Has Increased Efforts To Get Nuclear Technology By Illegal Means: Report

Pakistan’s activities to illegally obtain technology used in nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) weapons is seeing a sharp increase, according to the German government. In an official reply to questions from lawmakers, the German government said, Pakistan has seen a sharp increase in proliferation-relevant procurement activities in recent years. According to a Hindustan Times report, the government said, "since 2010, there had been some quantitative changes in illegal procurement efforts by states such as Iran, whose activities had witnessed a significant reduction since the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) came into force in January 2016.” Read more…

Delhi-NCR Sees Clearer As Smog Scatters, But Air Quality Index Remains In 'Severe' Category

People in Delhi-NCR woke up to much clearer visibility on Saturday morning as strong winds scattered some of smog shrouding the region. However, the air quality index remained in severe catergory. There is some hope of it getting better as day progresses. According to Ministry of Earth Science-backed System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the AQI level in and around Delhi was in severe zone on Saturday morning. While the overall air quality index (AQI) of Delhi stood at 434 around 8 am, the AQI in neighbouring Noida and Gurugram also improved when compared to Friday. Read more…

Modi Government Not To Release Consumer Spending Data Amid Reports Of Massive Fall In Rural Spending

Amid reports of a sharp decline in consumer spending in rural areas for the first time in the last 40 years, the Narendra Modi government on Friday said that the data of the Consumer Expenditure Survey 2017-18 will not be released this year. This came after US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch deposed before the Congressional panel on the second day of impeachment hearings. “A double standard like never seen before in the history of our Country,” Trump tweeted as Yovanovitch was grilled on president's interaction with Ukrainians. India declared their first innings at the overnight score of 493 for 6 taking 343-run lead against Bangladesh on the third day of the opening Test in Indore on Saturday.
