New Delhi:

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over Zakir Naik’s claim, where the radical television preacher in a statement in September 2019 had said that PM Modi and Amit Shah sent a messenger to him saying that if he supports abrogation of article 370 then Government will withdraw all cases and he will be allowed to come back. Digvijaya Singh tweeted a video of Zakir Naik in which he claimed that a representative of the Centre approached him and offered safe passage to India in return for support to abrogation of Article 370.

Digvijaya Singh alleged that the BJP follows the strategy of defaming using false allegations and asked why the Centre has issued no clarification till now on claims made by Zakir Naik. "When someone disagrees them: 1- convince him 2- If he does not agree, then threaten him 3- If he still doesn't agree, then lure him by position and money 4- If he still does not agree, then defame him by making false accusations," Digvijaya Singh said in a tweet.

Digvijaya Singh asked what the "real strategy of the duo" is. "Prime Minister and Home Minister should refute these allegations. If they don't, then it will be believed that the allegations are correct," the Congress leader said in a series of tweets.
