EC bribery case: Delhi court sends middleman to judicial custody

New Delhi:

A Delhi court on Friday sent middleman Sukesh to judicial custody till May 12 and his accomplice Naresh to police remand till April 30 in connection with the Election Commission bribery case.

On the other hand, the crime branch of Delhi police officials reached at the lawyer’s home in Chennai in relation with the ongoing probe in AIADMK symbol case. The police officials had taken AIADMK (amma ) deputy chief TTV Dhinakaran to Chennai for further investigation.

Police had earlier informed that Sukesh Chandrasekar, the first to be arrested, had allegedly struck a Rs 50 crore deal to help the AIADMK (Amma) faction keep the two leaves symbol.

The alleged hawala operator was questioned by Delhi police on Friday who was  suspected to have aided the money transfer in the bribery case allegedly involving arrested Dhinakaran.

Sources said the questioning of the man, whose identity was not revealed, at suburban Adambakkam was part of the probe into the use of conduits for alleged illegal money transfers through the hawala route.

The development came as police arrested alleged an hawala operator, Naresh, at the Delhi Airport for involvement in "illegal transfer" of money to arrested middleman Sukesh Chandrasekhar by Dhinakaran.
