New Delhi:

The family of Subodh Kumar Singh, the police inspector allegedly killed by mob during Bulandshahr violence, on Wednesday met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his residence in Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) OP Singh was also present during the meeting of Adityanath with family members. “Family of martyred Inspector Subodh Singh ji met Chief Minister today and CM assured the family of justice. A high-level probe has also been ordered,” DGP Singh said after the meeting.

On Tuesday, Subodh Kumar Singh, the SHO of Shyana police station in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, was fatally shot at a point-blank range above his left eye allegedly by a mob protesting against the alleged cow slaughter in the area.

The family of the deceased policeman alleged a pre-planned conspiracy behind his murder and demanded a CBI probe into the case. The sister of Subodh claimed that his brother was killed because he was investigating the Akhlaq case. Rajini Rathore, the wife of the police officer even threatened to commit suicide by shooting herself if the perpetrators behind his husband’s murder go unpunished.

“My husband was killed in a planned manner as part of a conspiracy. If the guilty go unpunished, I will commit suicide by shooting myself. I want a CBI probe to reveal the actual facts and reasons behind my husband’s death," Rajini said.

A night before meeting the family, CM Yogi Adityanath ordered strict action against cow slaughter, and illegal slaughterhouses, even as the perpetrators behind the murder of Subodh Kumar Singh were yet to be arrested.

The cold-blooded killing of the policeman in Bulandshahr by cow vigilantes has once again brought back the horror of 'Jungle Raj' (lawlessness) in Uttar Pradesh. Reacting to the incident, former Uttar Pradesh cheif minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the state was going through a spell of "violence and anarchy" under the rule of the BJP.

The Congress party also slammed Adityanath over the murder of the Bulandshahr policeman. Seniro Congress leader Kapil Sibal expressed his "shock" and said that instead of taking care of his own state, Yogi Adityanath was busy "spewing venom" in Telangana.
