There are days when being a public figure can have its own pitfalls and today was that day for Rahul Gandhi. Amid continuous war of words with Modi government over various issues, Gandhi was showered with love, rather too much of it! In what can be called as a fanboy moment gone too far, an unidentified man was caught on camera forcefully kissing Gandhi on his cheek during a roadshow in Kerala’s Wayanad. The small clip was posted by news agency ANI on Twitter. Gandhi looked visibly surprised after the unexpected gesture. Dressed in blue shirt, the man lunges towards Gandhi as the Wayanad MP greets people sitting inside his car. The man puts his hand on Gandhi’s shoulder and leans towards him and before Gandhi can understand anything, the man forcefully kisses him.

This is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi faced such an embarrassing situation in public. On February 14 earlier this year, an old woman was seen giving peck on Gandhi’s cheeks during an election rally in Gujarat’s Valsad. A video of the incident was shared by the ANI. The video showed some women on stage to greet the then Congress president when one of them pulls him and planted a kiss on his cheek. Gandhi was in Valsad to kick off his party's Lok Sabha poll campaign in Gujarat by addressing a ‘Jan Aakrosh’ rally.

Earlier, a woman from Prayagraj (Allahabad) had claimed that Gandhi had promised to marry her in her dreams. The woman claimed that she had met Gandhi once in 2014 and a few more times later and has been obsessed by him since then. Calling the Congress president a good man, the woman said she was convinced that he will marry her.

At present, the Congress leader is in his parliamentary constituency, where he is visiting the flood-affected people. On day two of his four-day visit to the constituency, Gandhi was told by the local people that there were issues relating to connectivity in various remote areas where roads and bridges had been washed away or destroyed in the floods and landslides. "We will work together to resolve these issues", he said. The issues being faced by farmers in Wayanad, the man-animal conflicts were complicated and they cannot be resolved with a magic wand, he said.
