Amid the ongoing cash crunch after the scrapping of high value notes, government the government has decided not to levy parking fee at airports for another week, till midnight of November 28.
The waiver, which was initially for a week starting from midnight of November 14, ended Monday.
A Civil Aviation Ministry spokesperson on Tuesday said the parking fee has now been waived till midnight of November 28.
The decision to defer collecting parking charges would be applicable for Airports Authority of India (AAI) as well as privately operated aerodromes.
The extension decision comes against the backdrop of people continuing to face difficulties in tendering change following the demonetisation of Rs 500/1,000 notes, which was announced on November 8.
Earlier while announcing the parking fee waiver on November 14, the government had said the move was to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers.
There are 75 operational airports including six run under joint ventures.
Cash crunch continues to hit people even a fortnight after the government withdrew Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes as part of a crackdown against black money.
