New Delhi:

Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi for his assertion that Gujarat election results has put a serious question on Modi’s credibility, the BJP on Tuesday said it was not PM Modi but Congress and its new chief whose credibility at an all-time low.

“Credibility of Congress and Rahul Gandhi is at an all-time low, while PM Modi's credibility is at an all-time high not just in India but globally,” Union Minister Ananth Kumar said.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi had raised questions about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s credibility after he led his party BJP to a narrow victory in his home state.

Rahul said, “A big question has been raised on Modiji’s credibility.  Frankly, Modiji has a credibility problem and he will find it very difficult... Because what he is saying, his forces and his organisation are repeating that.

“But the country is not listening to that. This, the Gujarat election has shown. In the coming times, you will see this clearly,” he added.

However, BJP ridiculed Rahul’s remark saying the Congress Chief is redefining what a set-back really means.

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said, he was amused to hear that the Congress president had described the results as a big jolt to the BJP.

He said, it was a major setback for Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi and his party which is on the verge of "extinction."

“It seems Rahul is under the illusion and enjoying defeat as victory. This shows his dynastic arrogance and is an insult to the people’s mandate,” Javadekar added.
