New Delhi:

Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has started an initiative for the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley. Representatives of Kashmiri Pandits met the separatist conglomerate at Rajbagh Headquarters in Srinagar for the same.

To coordinate the process, a committee has been formed which includes members from All Party Hurriyat Conference, Kashmiri civil society as well as migrant Pandits.

“A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits led by Satish Mahaldar met the APHC leaders at the Rajbagh office. The meeting was in continuation of the previous meeting the delegation had with APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his residence last month regarding the return of Pandits to Kashmir and initiating a sustained inter-community dialogue to build mutual trust..,” APHC in a statement said.

Before this, a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits led by Satish Mahaldar had met Hurriyat chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Mela Khirbhawani in Srinagar. Incidentally, it is the first time that the representatives of Kashmiri Pandits went for a meeting in the Hurriyat office.

Earlier, the Kashmiri Pandits had welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on Article 370. Speaking in Lok Sabha, Shah had said that prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru was responsible for the Kashmir problem. Hitting out at the Congress and then prime minister, he said one-third of Jammu and Kashmir is not with India.

Continuing his attack on the opposition party, he said so far Article 356 (President's Rule) was imposed 132 times of which the Congress used it 93 times to dismiss state governments.

Shah said people speak against India in Jammu and Kashmir to get security cover. In fact, he said, people who speak for India face the real threat.
