New Delhi:

A racist question by a pregnant woman on an Indian food community on Facebook named ‘Chef At Large’ has drawn criticism.

The woman has been trolled on the social networking website for asking this question:

“Hi, not food related, but I am pregnant and want fair baby, please can you guys suggest what I should eat, thanks a lot.”

As soon as she posted the question, people from across the world started reacting and the comments weren’t positive.

A user wrote: “Marry a fair husband! If that's done, pray for a fair baby. I would rather have a healthy baby but you totally have the right to decide what you want! All the best. May God be fair!!”

Another commented, “Very simple, pray that he goes on you and your husband. If you both aren't fair already, then keep praying.”

“Seriously and if i want a brown baby, I should eat Nutella??” and “Those eating green vegetables during pregnancy will have green babies?” were some comments.

“I live in Africa. I see many African women drinking milk and eating apples when they are pregnant. Surprise surprise! Their babies did not turn out fair,” a lady wrote.

“I believe these are regressive thoughts and have no place in modern society. Having said that, those who express such opinions, like this woman in context, aren't necessarily the propagators. It could have been pressure perceived from family sources that prompted her to ask the question,” Sid Khullar, the admin of CAL, wrote.

One person commented, “You are fortunate to be pregnant. There are many who cannot experience this bliss. I am a mother of two boys and all I can say is that fair or dark doesn't matter. Pray for a healthy and safe pregnancy, a normal delivery, and most of all a lovely child who is a blessing from God. Some families do pressurize the mother but remember, when you love and accept your child, others will do too. When you have a baby, share the pictures so that we can all gush over how cute he/she is and bless him. Dear all, please don't shame her as we don't know who or what prompted her to ask this question.”

“This is why education is important. Skin color is genetic and not food based. Secondly, in the 21st century, if people have such thoughts, I strongly say not to have babies..”
