Saluting the Indian soldiers, Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar praised the role of Army jawans engaged in rescue of thousands of devotees stranded in the flood-hit hills of Uttarakhand.
While posting a comment on social networking website, Sachin Tendulkar wrote: "Our Armed Forces have been doing selfless service in rescuing thousands of lives in Uttarakhand in the most challenging conditions. They are the real heroes of our nation."
"I salute them for their brave efforts. May God give courage to the families who have lost their loved ones to bear this irreparable loss. My thoughts are with them in these difficult times."
Twenty persons including personnel of Indian Air Force, ITBP and NDRF died in a chopper crash near Guptkashi on Tuesday evening while engaged in rescue work.
