IIT Bhubaneshwar student accuses professor of sexually harassing her

New Delhi:

A woman PhD scholar of IIT Bhubaneswar has accused a professor of sexually and mentally harassing her. She also accused the professor of mentally harassing her husband, a fellow PhD student in the IIT.

She has also written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to intervene in the matter. The Woman claimed that the professor has been sexually harassing her since 2012 and that she has complained to the IIT authorities.

IIT authorities had constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to look into the matter but the victim was not satisfied with the report of ICC.

However, IIT Bhubaneshwar has rejected all the allegations made by her and said, "the allegation against the professor is false and fabricated.”

The incident came to light after the victim’s lawyer served a notice to the secretary in the skill development and technical education department PK Sarangi.

Sarangi has written a letter to IIT authorities asking them to submit an immediate report on the matter.
