New Delhi:

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday blamed Union Minister Anurag Thakur for motivating the Jamia shooter and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to identify the "terrorist" who shot students in presence of heavy police force by his clothes. "Thanks to Anurag Thakur and all the 9 PM nationalists who have created so much hatred in this country that a terrorist shoots a student while cops watch. Hi PMO India, identify him by his clothes," Owaisi said.

The remarks of Owaisi came after a man, opened fire at Jamia Milia Islamia University students in the presence of a large police force. In fact, the police stood calmly behind the man, while he shot at the students shouting "who wants Freedom? Here's your freedom". One student was injured in the firing and rushed to the hospital.

Hours before the attack, the Jamia shooter had gone live on Facebook. His Facebook posts before the attack indicated that he was aware of the consequences of his actions. "On my last journey, take me draped in saffron and shout slogans of Jai Shri Ram," one of them read.

Owaisi said that the incident took place on a day when the country was remembering terrorist Godse's murder of Mahatma Gandhi. "Such cowardice does not scare us. The protests will go on. This is now Godse v. Gandhi’s, Ambedkar’s and Nehru’s India. It’s easy to pick a side," he wrote.

The AIMIM chief also criticised the Delhi police after the student injured in the shooting had to climb the barricades despite the presence of several policemen to remove them. "If there’s a prize for being ‘helpless’ bystanders, you’d win it every time. Can you explain why a gunshot victim had to CLIMB over a barricade? Do your service rules stop you from being HUMANE?," Owaisi wrote on Twitter tagging Delhi Police.
