In yet another encounter, the security forces gunned down two militants in the forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, according to reports.
“UPDATE on Bandipora encounter: Two terrorists have been killed in the encounter. Operations are underway,” the news agency ANI reported.
The gunfight ensued last night between the forces and terrorists after security personnel launched a cordon and search operation following certain inputs about the presence of militants in Sumlar area of the district.
The search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire at positions of the security forces. The exchange of fire was still underway when the last reports came in.
Earlier on Wednesday, the brutal murder of Border Security Force jawan, Narender Kumar by Pakistani rangers along the International Border near Jammu evoked sharp condemnations from across the armed forces, raising the tensions across LoC.
Pakistani troops slit the throat of constable Kumar, after fatally shooting him along the International Border near Jammu on Tuesday.
The brutal and "unprecedented" incident that took place in the Ramgarh sector has prompted the security forces to issue a "high alert" along the IB and the Line of Control (LoC) even as the BSF has lodged a strong complaint with its Pakistani counterparts.
