New Delhi:

An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, the Army said. An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Trumkhal area, in the upper reaches of Ganderbal this morning, an Army official said.

He said one militant was killed in the gunbattle. A weapon was recovered from the scene of the encounter.

Earlier in the day, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district. The gunfight ensued after terrorists hurled grenade on the forces patrolling in and around the region. However, no injury or loss of life has been reported on either side till the time. The operation was underway when the last reports came in.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident near a village at the general area Batote on the Jammu-Kishtwar national highway, two suspected terrorists tried to stop an army vehicle, triggering another gun battle between the sides.
