New Delhi:

The Army on Sunday conducted a written examination in which more than 3,000 youth from Jammu and Kashmir appeared. A Defence spokesman said, “The examination was conducted today in which more than 3,000 youth from the state, including 800 from the valley appeared.”

The number of candidates from Kashmir appearing for the exam was almost double than the corresponding year, the spokesman said. The examination was conducted at Srinagar and Udhampur centres.

“Territorial Army, known as ‘The Citizens Army’, is a platform through which any Indian employed citizen can enroll and render service towards the nation. To get selected as an officer, the individual needs to clear a written exam followed by an interview,” he added.

Jammu and Kashmir youth have shown their interest and come forward to join the territorial army and dedicate themselves towards selfless service to the nation, the spokesman said.
