Thousands of people gathered for the funeral ceremony of Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Bashir Lashkari on Sunday. The ceremony took place at Soaf-shali village in South Kashmir.
Pro-freedom slogans were raised at his funeral. Bashir and other militant Shadab Ahmad Chopan were killed by the security forces in Anantnag district’s Brinty Dialgam area on Saturday. Two civilians – a woman and a youth were also killed alongwith the two militants.
Bashir was carrying a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head. He was responsible for the killing of SHO Feroz and five policemen in Thajiwara area of Anantnag district.

Director General of Police S P Vaid informed about the killing of slain militants on Saturday. “The encounter is over. Two militants have been killed,” he said.
