New Delhi:

The spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar, on Friday spoke about the Japan Envoy Kenji Hirramatsu's statement on supporting India on Doklam. He said that the Japan’s statement speaks for itself.

“Japan experiencing similar problem as India-Bhutan with China in east China sea,” said Dhruva Jaishankar, Fellow, Foreign Policy, Brookings.

Jaishankar said that Japan sees similarity in situation in tri-junction area, natural for Japan to support India.

Earlier in the day, coming out in support of India over military standoff with China on Doklam issue, Japan has affirmed there should be no attempt to alter the status quo on ground by force.

The country’s statement is being seen as strong support for Indian side on the current crisis. India has been saying that China has violated the agreement with India and Bhutan by invading in the territory of Bhutan which is a serious defence concern for Indian forces.

Japanese ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu expressed his views on issue, saying that the development in the region could affect the stability.

Kenji said that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has already cleared India’s stance that the nation would continue to engage with dialogue through diplomatic channels with China to find a mutually acceptable solution.
