Lucknow:

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘thok do’ policy, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday wondered how can they stop killing when the government itself asking police officials to shoot. “How can they stop killings when the CM himself says ‘thok do’ if you want to maintain law and order. But after his order, neither the police know whom to shoot nor the people,” Akhilesh said while addressing a public rally.

The former chief minister also blamed the Uttar Pradesh government for the lapses in the security provided to Kamlesh Tiwari. He said that the murders are still absconding and the government is not doing anything against them.

“His mother's statement is repeatedly being played on television. She's saying that the only time they were provided security was during SP government. But Yogi government didn't provide security,” Akhilesh Yadav said.

Earlier, Tiwari's cremation was also delayed as family members were adamant on meeting Chief Minister Adityanath to put forth their nine demands, including a probe by NIA, government job for victim's son and security to family members.

Tiwari was cremated at his native place in Mahmoodabad after the district administration succeeded in convincing his family members that their demands will be fulfilled.

The chief minister has also assured the family members that he will meet them. He said such incidents will not be tolerated, and those involved will not be spared.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday claimed that it has solved the sensational murder case of former Hindu Mahasabha chief Kamlesh Tiwari. According to Director General of Police (DGP), OP Singh, three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
