Bangalore:

Facing constant opposition, Karnataka Chief Minister M Siddaramaiah on Monday handed over DK Ravi death probe to CBI.

While making a statement in Karnataka Assembly, he said, “I had said that CID will investigate and a senior official of CID started investigation. We will give status report on the investigation while Assembly is in session, but even that is not acceptable to opposition.”

Slamming opposition, he further added, “Our objective is not to cover up. Not trying to protect anybody, no govt role at all. This Govt wants to give fearless environment for officers to work efficiently.”

Speaking about CBI’s role in the probe, Siddaramaiah said, “We have faith in our police, I have not criticized CBI, not said anything against CBI. CBI is an institution that works independently, so does CID. Only CID not CBI, let status report come and then we will decide (on CBI probe).”

Later, while facing opposition, he finally agreed to handover the case to CBI.

“I have decided to handover the case to the CBI for investigation,” Karnataka CM concluded.
