New Delhi:

In the latest turn of events in the ongoing political crisis in Karnataka, rebel Congress leader ST Somashekar on Sunday said that they will not take their resignations back as any cost and another MLA K Sudhakar, who is currently staying in Delhi will also join them soon.

“We won't take our resignations back at any cost. K Sudhakar is in Delhi & he is also in our support, he may join us here in Mumbai anytime soon. BJP leader R Ashok has nothing to do with us, we are unaware as to why he is here,” the rebel Congress MLA said.

Earlier in the day, after promising to stay in the Congress party, rebel lawmaker MTB Nagaraj apparently took a U-turn and flew to Mumbai – where other rebel Congress-JDS MLAs have been camping since the last week, with some Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.

Nagaraj had also said that he will try to convince K Sudhakar to return to the Congress fold and take back his resignation.  The development comes at a time when Karnataka minister DK Shivakumar, who is wooing some of the rebel MLAs to withdraw their resignations, is claiming that the ruling coalition government will prove its majority during the floor test.

“At the time of Confidence Motion, they're also well-equipped with law. Law is very clear. If they vote against Confidence Motion, they'll lose their membership. Congress party is ready to settle their demands. We're getting signals that they'll save our government,” Shivakumar was quoted as saying by ANI.

Commenting on the developments, state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa said these efforts would not yield any result as the fall of the coalition government was "imminent".

"There is confusion in the Congress and the JDS due to which the MLAs are fleeing these parties. A systematic conspiracy is going on to bring the MLAs back," the former Karnataka chief minister said.
