Karnataka Crisis: Rebel Congress-JDS MLAs to be shifted to Goa from Mumbai hotel

Karnataka government is heading towards total restructuring. Shortly after the Congress announced the resignations of all its 21 ministers from the HD Kumaraswamy government, the JDS also made it official that its ministers have also stepped down. Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister of Karnataka via its official handle said that “All JDS ministers have resigned in the same manner as the 21 ministers of the Congress party have resigned. The cabinet will be restructured soon.” Kumaraswamy sounded rather confident today. “The issue will be resolved, don't worry. This govt will run smoothly,” Kumaraswamy was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. News Nation has also learnt that the JDS has booked 35 rooms in Paddington resort in Kodagu. Sources said that the JDS lawmakers are likely to be shifted to the Coorg resort.

2: In his first comments after 13 MLAs resigned and plunged the Congress-JDS coalition government into a crisis, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy Monday asserted he has "no fear" about the "political developments" and was concentrating on fulfilling his responsibilities.

3: The Bharatiya Janata Party's Karnataka chief BS Yeddyurappa on Monday demanded HD Kumaraswamy’s resignation from the post of Chief Minister on moral grounds. The former chief minister said that the Congress-JDS alliance has lost the confidence after en masse resignation of MLAs.  

4: As the political crisis entered day three, top Karnataka Congress leadership was seen fire-fighting the rebellion. Monday began with hectic backchannel diplomacy and closed-door meetings and breakfast mediation in Bengaluru. While the Narendra Modi-led Central government has clearly stated that it has nothing to do with the crisis in Karnataka, Congress leaders such as DK Shivakumar have blamed the BJP for the political turmoil. On Independent MLA H Nagesh’s resignation, Shivakumar said that, “Just now Nagesh called me and said that he has been hijacked by Yeddyurappas' PA and BJP. By the time I reached airport the flight had left.” Earlier in morning, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy left for an undisclosed location without his security cover to meet Congress rebel Ramalinga Reddy. Reddy is one of the Congress MLAs, who has so far refused to go to Mumbai.

5: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that all 21 Congress lawmakers have resigned from the Kumaraswamy government ‘voluntarily.’ Independent MLA Nagesh also announced his resignation from Kumaraswamy government. Firm on their resignations, Congress rebels Muniratna and Anand Singh are also likely to fly to Mumbai today.

6: News Nation has learnt that to diffuse the tension, Kumaraswamy is likely to offer post of deputy Chief Minister to Ramalinga Reddy. On day three of the crisis, Deputy Chief Minister G Parmeshwar said, “I have called for the meeting of all congress ministers , we are looking on all options ,if need arises all congress ministers will resign to accommodate disgruntled MLAs in the cabinet .. See, we are trying to save our govt .. if party tells me also to resign I will also resign .....”

7: Speculations are rife that more MLAs are likely to announce their resignations. In case the Congress and the JDS leadership fails to convince Ramalinga Reddy, his daughter Saumya Reddy will also quit. She is MLA from Jayanagar.

8: Nagendra, Bhima Nayak and Venkataramaiah are among those who will reign today.

9: Karnataka sports minister Rahim Khan and two other JDS leaders have gone incommunicado.

10: The JD(S)-Congress government in Karnataka is facing a crisis after 12 MLAs of the alliance submitted their resignations to the state Assembly Speaker on Saturday.
