Land Bill: No prohibition orders on any peaceful march, says Delhi Police

Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Tuesday said that there were no prohibition orders on any peaceful march. He was refering to a protest march organised by the Congress party against the controversial Land Bill.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Congress party was denied permission to carry out its protest march against the Land Acquisition Bill.

The Delhi Police has set up barricades and water cannons at Vijay Chowk to prevent the protestors from reaching the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The Congress planned to protest against the NDA Government's Land Acquisition Ordinance, marching from the Parliament to the Rashtrapati Bhawan under the leadership of its president Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Along with the Congress, leaders of the Janata Dal (United), Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, CPI (M), DMK, INLD as well as other parties were also expected to participate in the protest.
