New Delhi:

When it comes about the patriotic songs in our country, one name which comes to mind is none other than ‘The Nightingale of India’, Lata Mangeshkar. Recently, the iconic singer lends her voice to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poem ‘Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki’, which was dedicated to the soldiers of the country.

The 89-year old legendary singer on Saturday tweeted the video and wrote, “Namaskar. A few days ago, I was listening to India’s Honourable Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi’s speech. He had recited a few lines of a poem, which I feel in reality is every Indian’s thought (Man Ki Baat) too. I have recorded it, and today I dedicate it to our brave soldiers and the citizens of the nation. Jai Hind!”

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi also retweeted and thanked the singer for the song.

PM Modi recited the line of the poem during a rally in Rajasthan’s Churu after the Indian Air Force’s retaliation to the Pulwama terror attack on February 14.

He said, "Saugandh mujhe iss mitti ke, mai desh nahi rukne dunga; Mai desh nahi rukne deunga, mai desh nahi jhukne dunga; Mera vachan hai bharat ko tera shesh nahi jhukne dunga; Saugandh mujhe iss mitti ke, mai desh nahi rukne dunga; Jag raha hai desh mera haar bharat vaasi jetaga; Saugandh mujhe iss mitti ke, mai desh nahi rukne deunga; Hume phir se dhorana hai aur khud ko yaad delana hai; na bhatkege na atkenge kuch bhi ho mai desh nahi mitne dunga".

Earlier, Lata Mangeshkar had congratulated PM Modi and the ISRO scientists for ‘Mission Shakti’. She tweeted, ‘’Namaskar, I thank the scientists and respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful completion of Mission Shakti. Vande Mataram’’.
