India's ambitious second mission to the Moon Chandrayaan-2 will lift off at 2.43 pm on July 22 with scientists resolving the technical glitch in GSLV-MkIII-M1 rocket that led to the aborting of the launch three days ago. Chandrayaan-2, which will be launched on-board the most powerful Geostationary Launch Vehicle GSLV-Mk-III dubbed 'Baahubali.’ The fate of the HD Kumaraswamy led Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka will be decided on the floor of the assembly today after the resignations of 15 MLAs have threatened its political relevance in the state. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump at the White House today during which the American leadership will press him to take “decisive and irreversible” actions against terrorist and militant groups operating from Pakistani soil and facilitate peace talks with the Taliban.

3 pm: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Monday scripted a history by launching Chandrayaan-2 successfully. The launch of Chandrayaan-2 was carried out at 2.43 pm from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota on-board GSLV Mk-III. With the successful launch of Chandrayaan-2, ISRO has taken a giant leap in aerospace sector too.

10.15 am: Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday reacted to his controversial statement in which he had asked terrorists to ‘kill’ the corrupt. “Whatever I said was in a fit of anger and frustration due to rampant corruption here,” news agency ANI quoted Malik as saying. 

"As Governor, I should have not made such a comment, but my personal feeling is the same as I said. Many political leaders and big bureaucrats are steeped in corruption here," he said.

9.54: A fire broke out at an office on the fourth floor of Kidwai Bhawan in central Delhi's Janpath Road on early Monday morning, officials said. No casualty has been reported, they said. The fire department said they received a call about the blaze at 4.45 am, after which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Essential documents, air-conditioners and furniture were damaged in the fire, a senior officer said. The fire was brought under control by 7 am, the officer said, adding that the cause is being ascertained.
