Donald Trump offered to mediate between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue as he met Prime Minister Imran Khan at the White House for the first time, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also asked him to help with the Kashmir issue. Trump said that he is ready to help, if the two countries ask. The Supreme Court will hear a fresh plea of two Independent Karnataka MLAs seeking holding of the floor test "forthwith" in the state Assembly on the trust motion moved by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

6 pm: Maharashtra: A massive fire broke out in a chemical godown in Bhiwandi, Thane, earlier on Tuesday. Fire fighting operations are still underway.

12 pm: The Supreme Court on Tuesday pronounced verdict in the real estate major Amrapali Group case. Bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra, directed cancellation of registration of all Amrapali group of companies. Justice Arun Mishra also directed Enforcement Directorate to conduct a detailed investigation against the group for diverting home-buyers' money and ordered ED to register money laundering cases against its CMD, directors. This will be seen as a respite to over 42,000 hassled home buyers.

Karnataka rebel MLAs on Tuesday replied to Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar’s summon and sought time to appear before him. In their signed letters, the rebel lawmakers asked for four weeks of time. “As you are aware, I have tendered my resignation as the Member of the Legislative Assembly. In this regard, I had also approached the Supreme Court of India, wherein the Hon'ble Supreme Court has directed your goodself to consider my resignation. In spite of all this, I am informed that a petition has been filed under X schedule of the Constitution of India, by the party, seeking my disqualification. I am not in receipt of the copy of the petition or the documents annexed to the person,” the letter accessed by the News Nation read.

A day after US President Donald Trump claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked him to mediate between New Delhi and Islamabad over the Kashmir issue, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar categorically denied the claim in the Rajya Sabha today. “I would like to categorically assure the House that no such request has been made by PM Modi.” Jaishankar said. He also added that, “It has been India's consistent position that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally. Any engagement with Pakistan would require an end to cross-border terrorism.” He also stressed on the fact that “the Shimla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration provide the basis to resolve all issues between India and Pakistan bilaterally.”
