UP Elections 2017: Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance 'almost done', Ghulam Nabi Azad says details will be announced in next two days

New Delhi:

A day after the infighting in the Samajwadi Party over its symbol came to an end, the Congress said on Tuesday that it will form an alliance with the ruling party for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad confirmed the reports saying that the alliance will be formed under the leadership of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

"Details about it will be decided in coming days, for now can say there will be Congress-SP alliance under leadership of Akhilesh Yadav," PTI quoted Azad as saying.

Congress' chief ministerial candidate Sheila Dikshit too said that talks are on over the possible tie-up between the two parties as it will benefit the state.

Earlier in the day, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said that he will take a decision in this regard in a day or two.
