Lal Krishna Advani, the veteran politician, and BJP’s senior leader was born on November 8, 1927. Today, on his 92nd birthday, let’s take a look at his life’s personal and political journey, and see how a 14 year old Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Volunteer went to become the Deputy Prime Minister of the country.

LK Advani was born in Karachi to Sindhi Hindu businessmen family to parents Gyani Devi and Kishanchand D. Advani. He went to Saint Patrick’s High School and complete his early education. Then, he took admission to Government College, Sindh, and subsequently Graduated in Law from Government Law college after his family settled in Bombay during partition.

He started his political journey by joining RSS in 1941 as a 14 year old volunteer. LK Advani from there went to become the member of the Bhartiya Jana Sangh, a political party that as founded by Syama Prasad Mookerjee in association with RSS. He was later appointed as the secretary to S. S. Bhandari, then General Secretary of the Sangh.

In the year 1965, LK Advani married kamla Advani, and has a daughter, Prathiba and son, Jayant. Further, he became the 7th Deputy Prime Minister of India and served from 2002 to 2004 under Atal Vihari Vajpayee. He is also one the senior leaders and co-founders of the Bharatiya Janta Party.

The Senior BJP Leader also served as Minister of Home Affairs in the NDA government from 1998 to 2004. He became the leader of opposition in the 10th and 14th Lok Sabha as well. It was in the year 2015, LK Advani was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s 2nd highest civilian honour.

The autographical book, My Country My Life written by L. K. Advani was released on March 19, 2008 by the 11th president of India, Abdul Kalam.
