New Delhi:

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi has almost given her nod to form the government with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, however, some party leaders are still raising their voice against the decision. Former Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam on Friday expressed his concerns over the formation of the government.

In a tweet, Sanjay Nirupam criticised his own party leaders for forming the government with the support of Shiv Sena. He further said that it would be a "mistake" on the part of his party if it joins the Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra, as it would be akin to "burying" the Grand Old Party in the state. Nirupam also has his own doubts about the stability of government-led by three parties in Maharashtra.

Take a look at Sanjay Nirupam’s tweet:

Meanwhile, the Congress and NCP are at present working out modalities of forming a government with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra to keep the BJP, the single largest party with 105 MLAs, away from power in the state. The Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress won 56, 54 and 44 seats respectively in the October 21 Maharashtra Assembly polls.

It is worth mentioning here that Sanjay Nirupam has been raising voice against the coalition of Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena. Previously, he had said, “Partnering as the third largest party in a Shiv Sena-led government is like ‘burying’ Congress in the state. It will be better that the Congress president doesn’t come under any pressure.”

“Years ago, Congress had made a mistake in Uttar Pradesh by forging an alliance with BSP. After that, it was beaten in such manner that it has not been able to revive till date. We are repeating the same mistake in Maharashtra,” Nirupam had said.
