Manesar:

Nearly 250 workers, who were terminated from Maruti Suzuki's Manesar facility on July 18, 2012, are likely to stage protest in collaboration with local trade union bodies. The protesters would demand the release of their jailed colleagues.

Violence had erupted on July 18 last year after a suspended Maruti Udyog worker at the Manesar plant allegedly slapped a supervisor. A senior executive was killed and over 100 people were injured in the violence.

After the incident, the company sacked nearly 2,500 workers. Of them, 147 workers - including then union leaders - were jailed and are facing trial.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate on Wednesday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in areas surrounding Maruti company in Manesar to avoid any confrontation between villagers and agitating sacked workers of the company.

District Magistrate Shekhar Vidyarthi has imposed the orders in whole area of IMT Manesar, Maruti Company at Manesar, Devi Lal Park Manesar, National Highway 8 and Mini Secretariat Gurgaon, under which assembling of five or more persons and carrying of weapons have been prohibited.

Holding any kind of procession and dharna at these places has also been banned.
