Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi appeals to farmers to not burn stubble

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation on the 49th edition of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at 11 am on Sunday. Remembering freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Prime Minister appealed to the citizens to participate in the ‘Run for Unity’ on October 31, which marks the birth anniversary of the ‘Iron Man of India’.

In his address, the prime minister praised the para-athletes, who had represented India in the Asian Para Games recently and said that their spirit to overcome challenges is inspirational. He also evoked India’s ‘golden history’ in hockey and said that the nation has contributed largely to the sport by giving a number of talented players like Dhyanchand, Balvinder Singh Sr, Dhanraj Pillai, among others.

He also said that India was fortunate to be hosting the Men’s Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar this year and that it is good chance for sport lovers to witness closely contested matches and also to witness the dignified historical background and has rich cultural tradition of Odisha.

For India, 11th of November this year has special significance because on 11th November hundred years back World War I had ended. Ending of that war is completing 100 years: PM

Wherever there will be a talk of world peace, ’s name and contribution will be written in golden letters: PM

Our epics tells us- O, Lord, peace should prevail all around in all three “Lokas”,in water, in air, in space, in fire, in wind, in medicines, in vegetation, in gardens, in sub conscious, in whole creation: PM



सामाजिक कार्य के लिए जिस प्रकार से लोग आगे आ रहे हैं, इसके लिए Volunteering कर रहे हैं, ये पूरे देशवासियों के लिए प्रेरणादायक है। वैसे सेवा परमो धर्मः ये भारत की विरासत है।



आज विश्व पर्यावरण संरक्षण की चर्चा कर रहा है। भारत भी इस समस्या से अछूता नहीं है। इसके हल के लिए हमें अपने समृद्ध इतिहास,परंपराओं को देखना होगा, खासकर अपने जनजातीय समुदायों की जीवनशैली को समझना होगा।

Bhil tribes of Central India and specially those in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh worship Peepal and Arjun trees religiously: PM

To live in consonance and closed coordination with nature has been an integral part of our tribal communities. Our tribal brethren worship trees and plants and flowers like gods and goddesses: PM



Our country is also facing this problem. But, for its solution we only have to look inwards, to look into our glorious past and our rich traditions and have especially to understand lifestyle of our tribal communities: PM

Subject that inspires us to look into our dignified past and ancient traditions. Today, whole world and specially western countries are discussing about environment protection and are trying to find new ways to adopt balanced life style: PM

"31st October this year will be special on one more account- on this day, we shall dedicate Statue Of Unity of the nation as true tribute to Sardar Patel. The structure is twice the height of Statue of Liberty. This is the world’s tallest scyscraping statue."


PM Modi started with address by remembering Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He urged youths and people to take part in the Run for Unity on October 31 when nation celebrates the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
