The BJP hit back at Rahul Gandhi over his ‘weak Modi’ remark on Masood Azhar veto saying that it was only because of Nehru-Gandhi family that the country was facing such a scenario. Reminding him about the 1962 War, the BJP took to Twitter and replied to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet saying, “China wouldn't be in UNSC had your great grandfather not 'gifted' it to them at India’s cost.” Earlier in the day, the Congress chief had attacked Modi government over his China diplomacy saying, “Weak Modi is scared of Xi. Not a word comes out of his mouth when China acts against India.”
“India is undoing all mistakes of your family. Be assured that India will win the fight against terror. Leave it to PM Modi while you keep cosying up with the Chinese envoys secretly,” the BJP said on Twitter while attacking Gandhi.
It should be noted that reasons for India’s crushing defeat in 1962 War are still hidden in classified documents. On October 20, 1962, China's People's Liberation Army attacked as it marched across the border from two fronts -- Ladakh in the west and across the McMahon Line on the east.
Beijing is still occupying 33,000 square kilometers of its territory in Jammu and Kashmir while China claims the whole of Arunachal Pradesh is under India’s occupation.
The proposal to designate Azhar under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council was moved by France, the UK and the US on February 27, days after a suicide bomber of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) killed 40 CRPF soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama, leading to a flare-up in tensions between India and Pakistan. Azhar and two other terrorists, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar and Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, were released from an Indian prison in 1999 by the then BJP-led government headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that, “except China, entire world is standing with India on the issue of Masood Azhar. This is a strategic victory for India.”
