AP Express catches fire near Birlanagar station in Gwalior; all passengers safe

New Delhi:

A massive fire broke out in three coaches of 22415 Andhra Pradesh AC Express near Birlanagar station in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on Monday. The incident occurred when the train was pulling into the Birlanagar station.

"Train no. 22416, New Delhi - Visakhapattanam express, fire in B-7 coach reported at Birla Nagar Station near Gwalior, fire spread in B-6 and B-5 coach also.," Railway Ministry said in the official statement.

The ministry also confirmed that all the passengers were evacuated safely when the fire broke out. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire timely. So far, the reason behind the fire was unknown.

The Delhi to Vishakhapatnam AP AC Express train started from Delhi's Nizamuddin railway station on Monday morning and was going to Visakhapatnam. The burning coaches were detached and the train was dispatched to its destination, according to reports.
