New Delhi:

The crucial battle of the Lok Sabha Elections will be about ‘Modi vs Chaos,’ Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley wrote in his latest blog on Monday. Titled ‘Agenda for 2019 – Modi Vs Chaos,’ Jaitley slammed the Opposition for ‘negative anti-Modi agenda’ in his blog. The Finance Minister said that there was no “anti-incumbency factor” as “the level of satisfaction with Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi is very high.” Focusing on the United India rally, Jaitley hit out at the Opposition’s “sham unity arithmetic.”

Jaitley highlighted the fact that “Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati and KCR were significantly absent in Kolkata.” “2/3rd of those on stage were those who in the past have worked with the BJP. Some octogenarians reached Kolkata to satisfy their late-life ambitions. There was not a single speech reflecting the positive idea which the leaders proposed for the future. Negativism was writ large in their approach. The strategy of each of the four contenders is clear,” Jaitley wrote. According to the Finance Minister, the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ won’t work because, “if arithmetic is the only hope, the Modi chemistry can prevail over it.” “People want a Five Year Government, not a six month one,” he added.

Attacking PM Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that, "Modi government's expiry date is over." Addressing the mega rally in Kolkata, Banerjee raised slogan of "badal do, badal do, Delhi ka sarkar badal do." More than 20 national leaders, including former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, his son and Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah, Sharad Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Hemant Soren and former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Gegong Apang, reached Kolkata on Friday to take part in the rally.

Large-scale preparations were made to ensure that the rally turns out to be massive success. Besides the huge stages, 20 watchtowers were erected and 1,000 microphones and 30 LED screens put up so that the spectators could see the leaders and hear them speak clearly. As many as 10,000 security personnel were deployed in and around the venue of the rally and around 400 police pickets were set up to ensure foolproof security, the police said. Vehicular movement around the venue was also restricted, the police said.
