A joint meeting of the NDA's allies will be held on Sunday wherein Nitish Kumar will be elected as the leader of NDA. The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the leaders of the four NDA constituents - Janta Dal United (JDU), Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) at the residence of Chief Minister Kumar on Friday.

"The meeting will start at 12:30 pm on November 15," chief minister-elect Nitish Kumar told reporters. The Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won a majority in the 243-member assembly. The NDA's total 125 seats include BJP's important contribution of 74, and Janta Dal United with 43 along with allies VIP and HAM(S) four seats each. The ruling Janta Dal United has been reduced to 43 seats this time from from 71 since the 2005 Assembly polls.

In the opposition grand alliance, RJD won 75 seats, Congress 19, CPI Male 12 and CPI and CPI-M won two seats each. Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party has been able to win only one seat after separating from the NDA.
