New Delhi :

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested Mohammed Faiz, resident of Jafrabad area of Delhi, in connection with an ISIS (Islamic State) module case, police said. He is the fourteenth suspect to be arrested in the case. According to reports, the suspect was found to be one of the key conspirators who was planning to carry out terror attacks in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh.

According to sources, the investigator found that he was closely involved in the procurement of arms and ammunition for the group to carry out terrorist acts.

The case pertains to a group of Pro-ISIS terrorists who formed a terrorist gang which was engaged in acts preparatory to the commission of terror attacks with a view to wage war against the Government of India.

The group was found to be inspired by the ideology of ISIS and was conspiring and preparing to target places of importance in and around National Capital Territory of Delhi.

In August 2018, the NIA had arrested two alleged ISIS sympathisers -Mohammed Abdullah Basith and Mohd Abdul Qhadeer - from the city as part of its larger probe into Indian youngsters being radicalised to carry out terror strikes on behalf of the banned international outfit.

Meanwhile, Nayeem Geelani, the son of pro-Pakistan separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, appeared before the NIA for questioning in connection with a case related to the funding of terror groups and separatist organisations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Nayeem Geelani, who had been evading questioning by the NIA for long, appeared on Monday and a detailed questioning took place on Tuesday.

Geelani's questioning comes days after the NIA quizzed moderate Hurriyat Conference chief Mirwaiz Umer Farooq in connection with the same case.

The NIA probe seeks to identify the chain of players behind the financing of terrorist activities, stone pelting on security forces, burning down of schools and damaging of government establishments.
