New Delhi:

Senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on Saturday expressed hope that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar would soon join the Grand Alliance, ‘dumping the NDA’. He blamed Narendra Modi government for the state of economy and cited measures like demonetization responsible for the economic slowdown. He added that CM Nitish Kumar has enough reasons to leave the NDA as country’s economy is in distress and social tensions too are being fanned by the BJP.

“Bihar will not follow the example of Maharashtra. Rather, it will set an example for the entire country, as it has always done. I believe all parties would come together to defeat the BJP in the assembly elections. And I am firm in my belief that Nitish Kumar will come back”, PTI quotes Raghuvansh Prasad Singh as saying.

Assembly elections will take place in Bihar next year. In the 2015 polls, the Grand Alliance under the leadership of Nitish Kumar took over NDA. NDA received a crushing defeat with RJD emerging as the single largest party in the state. However, differences with the RJD led Kumar to join hands with BJP in 2017.

The NDA in Bihar at present also includes Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP. NDA swept Bihar winning 39 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in the general elections this year.

Recently, BJP chief Amit Shah made it clear that his party looks forward to contest elections in Bihar with JD(U).
