Taslima Nasreen in the exclusive interview says that she has been a victim of sexual harassment and was still traumatised by the incident.

The author of Nirbashito Bahire Ontore ("Banished within and without") says that she used to think Sunil Gangopadhyay, who was also a famous poet, as her elder brother, but he broke her trust by touching her inappropriately and she has not been able to forget that incident till now.

Nasreen also said that she takes Union Minister MJ Akbar, who is hitting the headlines for alleged sexual misconduct, as a brilliant editor and orator. She added that she felt really bad after the news regarding MJ Akbar surfaced.

Nasreen says that she doesn’t know anything about government’s decision on MJ Akbar and doesn’t want to comment anything on it. However, she feels that the accused should apologise.

Taslima Nasreen praises the #MeToo movement that is taking India by storm and says the whole world should follow suit.

Every woman should know her rights, be it Bangladesh, Pakistan or India, the author says.

Women are treated as slaves, and men feel that they have every right to molest a woman, this is wrong and needs to be changed, she says.

Nasreen also says women are blamed if they try to raise their voices against the wrongdoings in the male-dominated society.

Sunil Gangopadhyay or Sunil Ganguly was an Indian Bengali poet and novelist based in Kolkata. He died on October 23, 2012.
