On 14th anniversary of Kargil, the nation remembers martyrs

Citizens from from all across the nation are expected to come forward and pay their glowing tributes to martyrs on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Friday, July 26.

The day is scheduled to be celebrated with a wreath laying ceremony in the morning and candlelight vigil in the evening at Smritika, the Central Command War Memorial at Lucknow Cantonment.

On the occasion, Lt Gen Rajan Bakhshi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command will lay the wreath in memory of the martyrs who laid down their lives during the Kargil War of 1999.

Smritika, the War Memorial will remain open for public from 7 pm onwards for paying tributes to the martyrs.

"The programme would include a skit, songs by volunteers of various NGOs, groups, NCC cadets, students of various schools, which would then be followed by lighting of candles," said retired Major Ashish Chaturvedi.
