After PM Manmohan Singh's return from China on Thursday, Congress Core group will meet on Friday and discuss the onion price hike and Telangana issue.
The Cabinet Secretary has called a meeting of Food Secretary, agriculture and Consumer Affairs Minister to discuss escalating onion prices.
Onion prices continued to rule at a record Rs 100 per kg in parts of the country for the second day on Friday as a hapless government waited for increased supply of new crops to reach the markets and stabilise rates.
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Thursday again termed the crisis "temporary," even though onion prices havebeen rising since August.
While poll bound Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said, "Lot of onions have gone to waste due to heavy and prolonged rains. Situation has become serious as we all know, we are trying our best so that situation improves and prices stabilise."
