Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Punjab President and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann, while targeting the Badal family, said that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Badal had become fascinated with Panth and Punjab as soon as it was out of power. Even the Mughal invaders like Ahmed Shah Abdali had not done as much damage to the Punjab as the Badals have. In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Sunday, Bhagwant Mann termed the Badal family as 'snakes' for the Panth and Punjab, who recalled Panth, Punjab, it's federal structure and the resolution of Sri Anandpur Sahib as soon as they were mandated out of power by the people of Punjab.
However, in 1996, Parkash Singh Badal abandoned the Panth in Moga and turned Shiromani Akali Dal into Badal & Co. Mr. Mann said that from 1997 to 2020 for 15 years in Punjab and 12 years at the Center with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Badal was part of the ruling party, but they never raised issues related to Panth, Punjab and it's federal structure, let alone the Anandpur Sahib resolution. Will the entire 'Badal & Company', including S. Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal, explaining to the people of Punjab this lack of concern during their years in power, asked Mann.
Bhagwant Mann said, “25 years ago, in Moga, Badal & Co., by abandoning the principles of Shiromani Akali Dal and Punjab-dominated heritage, fervently joined BJP. During their long stay in power, Badals have destroyed the Panth and the Punjab. This partnership was to continue, but the pressure of the farmers' agitation forced Badals to leave BJP's umbrella and made them powerless. The justice of the time was that today Badals have lost everything; Panth, Punjab and Punjabis. To reclaim the lost ground, Badal & Co, from the same land of Moga is now again calling for Panth and Punjab.
The entire Panth and Punjabis have to be aware of this chameleon move of the Badals which is being played to mislead the people and seize power. Reacting to the claims and promises made by senior and junior Badal, Bhagwant Mann said that today, Badals are nowhere in the political arena of Punjab, but the Badal family is trying its best to compete. He said that the Badal family is most responsible for prolonging peace in Punjab. Objecting to the address of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee's President Harjinder Singh Dhami from a political stage, Mann compared Badal Family to 'Masands' who wrongfully seized Gurudwaras. But the good thing is that the entire Panth and Punjab has come to know the reality of the Badals in depth, added Mann.
Mr. Mann scoffed at the promise made by Sukhbir Singh Badal to set up Sand Mining Corporation and Liquor Corporation to eradicate Mafia and said that it was a ridiculous promise like a cat promising to set up a corporation to guard the milk. Mr. Bhagwant Mann said that there was no room for Badal Dal in the Panth and Punjab as they had been permanently stained by the sacrilege of Shri Guru Granth Sahib and various mafias, Badal & Co. will have to repent for many generations to eradicate their sins.
