New Delhi:

Chaotic scenes were witnessed in Parliament on Tuesday as Opposition targeted Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani and Minister of State (HRD) Ram Shankar Katheria for their recent controversial remarks. The Opposition also demanded strict action against them.

Congress leader Anand Sharma moved adjournment motion in Rajya Sabha, while Mallikarjun Kharge and Jyotiraditya Scindia in Lok Sabha over Katheria's alleged hate speech.

Repeated adjournments were witnessed in both the Houses of Parliament as Opposition created ruckus on issues including Katheria’s remark following a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader’s murder in Agra.

A condolence meet was attended by senior VHP and BJP leaders, including Surendra Jain and Katheria, on Sunday. In the meet, references were allegedly made to Muslims and many speakers compared them “rakshashas” or demons.
